Created in 2014, this work by Montse Piñol delves into the realms of lyrical abstraction and material informalism. The artist abandons recognizable form to focus on the pure expressiveness of the pigment. I'm fascinated by how the orange "bleeds" onto the blue, creating a very attractive visual tension. It's like looking through a fogged window at a city at night or at a nebula. Montse Piñol demonstrates here that she knows how to control the unexpected; the dripping isn't random, it's placed exactly where the composition needs it to breathe.
