The composition of the landscape
Antoni de Ferrater i Feliu (Barcelona, 1868–1942) was a Catalan painter and draughtsman. In this work, dated 1934, he arranges the houses and trees through a clear composition and concise linework.
The buildings on the right are defined by walls, windows and rooflines. The trees on the left are drawn with loose, overlapping curves. The contrast between these forms structures the landscape.
Camprodon, 1934
The inscription “Camprodon 1934” locates and dates the landscape. The buildings on the right and the central arch combine with the masses of trees on the left; overlapping lines and brief shading distinguish planes without detailing the entire scene.

The Taller Note
The tree canopies form masses of curved lines that contrast with the walls and windows of the buildings. The dark arch in the centre and the foreground strokes connect the two groups, while untouched areas of paper give the landscape room to breathe.
