Carbonell — Rull (Noies): Reclining Nude — Bon à Tirer Proof (B.A.T.) — Etching

Bon à tirer proof of Reclining Nude, the first print in Carbonell’s Rull (Noies), made at Masafumi Yamamoto’s workshop.

This print belongs to Rull (Noies), conceived in March 1985 as a collaboration between Carbonell and Catalan writer Pep Albanell.

A reclining female nude rests beside a potted plant. The dense aquatint background sets off the pale figure, creating a theatrical contrast and an intimate, nocturnal atmosphere. This is the first print in the series.

The print was hand-pulled at Masafumi Yamamoto’s Barcelona workshop. Dark aquatint areas contrast with the light figure and lines modelling the anatomy. The plate mark defines the image area.

• Condition: Good structural condition, with deckle edges preserved. A warm tonal variation is visible within the plate-mark area.

The Taller Note

Lines and areas of ink organise the reclining body on the paper. The relationship between contour and pale areas allows the figure’s posture to be followed.
