Original oil on canvas (50 × 50 cm) by Heber Luis Gil Ameijeiras, signed as Heber L. Gil. The work features a light aircraft suspended over an imaginary landscape of mountains, water, and large surfaces of color, dominated by a huge yellow solar disk.
The composition is part of the artist's unique pictorial universe, close to surrealism, neo-fauvism, and contemporary naïve painting, where the real landscape is transformed through intense colors and deliberately unreal proportions.
An impossible landscape
The small light aircraft introduces a recognizable element within a territory that quickly abandons any naturalistic intention. Pink and ocher mountains, blue and violet stripes, and a large sun of disproportionate dimensions build a landscape closer to a dream than to a concrete place.
The aircraft seems to move directly in front of the star, creating a striking sense of movement and depth within an apparently simple composition.
Landscape as color
Heber L. Gil uses color here as the true protagonist. Blues, yellows, pinks, and ochers are distributed in wide bands that simplify nature to the point of turning it almost into abstraction.
The work thus maintains a balance between figurative landscape and fantastic painting, a recurring characteristic within the personal language developed by the artist.

Studio Note
The white and blue light aircraft crosses the upper left, in front of the large yellow disk. Below, the landscape is divided into wavy bands of blue, pink, violet, and ocher, with reddish mountains that define the horizon. The difference in scale between the plane and the disk focuses attention on the sky, while the bands of color lead the gaze from one side of the square surface to the other.
