The couple as a construct

Two faces appear fused within a large circular structure, surrounded by geometric shapes, curved profiles, and fragments of intense color. The figures are not represented as two independent individuals: they overlap, share space, and seem to integrate within the same visual architecture.

The title itself, Pareja estándar homologada, introduces a deliberately ironic reading. The expression refers to the language of standardization and industrial production applied here to something as intimate as human relationships. The image can thus be interpreted as a reflection on the couple, identity, and established social models.

Color and “virtual futurism”

Greens, reds, blues, and violets replace any naturalistic intent. The faces are fragmented and integrated into an almost technological or imaginary space, close to neo-fauvism and contemporary surrealism.

On the reverse, Heber L. Gil himself named this language “Sui generis (virtual futurism)”, a particularly interesting definition because it directly documents how the artist understood this stage of his production.

The handwritten inscription on the reverse also adds a particularly singular expression, “virtual futurism”, preserving firsthand the terminology with which Heber L. Gil wanted to define his own work.
