The fishing trade in sepia

The composition shows two barefoot fisherwomen on the sand. The figure on the left holds a basket of fish; the one on the right carries a tray on her head. Boats, the sea and the background landscape frame the scene.

The proof and its edition

The inscription “P A” appears in pencil in the lower left margin, with the signature “J. Carbonell” on the right. The print is catalogued as an artist’s proof outside the numbered Banca Mas Sardà edition of 295 impressions.
