The viewpoint
The bodies and capes in the foreground frame the open space of the bullring. Behind them, the curve of the barrier and the smaller figures establish depth.
Drawing the costumes
Geometric motifs on the jackets and angular folds in the capes stand out against the pale ground. Dark hatching in the upper area closes the background of the scene.

The bull appears farther away, near the curved barrier, while dense diagonal hatching darkens the upper part of the image. The overlap of the figures and the open space between them establish the depth of the arena.
