A bright urban view from the late 1950s combining monumental architecture with the appearance of contemporary cars.
Signed by Nieto and dated 1959, this watercolour captures the rhythm and atmosphere of the city on a clear day. Monumental buildings, with neoclassical structures on the right and Gothic spires in the distance, suggest a major European capital.
The artist handles water with fluency. Branches and foliage along the upper edge frame the scene through loose, wet washes that contrast with the precise architectural lines. Rounded saloon cars in ochre and red give the work its distinctive late-1950s character, making it a visual record of mid-century urban aesthetics.
