Layers and surface

A broken grid

Deep blacks, cement greys and muted ochres dominate, evoking asphalt and earth. An electric ultramarine-blue stroke in the upper left, with subtle tones beneath, interrupts this subdued range.

Sgraffito cuts through the fresh paint and palette-knife dragging reveals pale underlying layers, creating small vibrations of light and physical depth.

Vertical and horizontal blocks suggest blind windows or building structures, giving the abstract marks a tectonic order.

The Taller Note

The surface is organised into vertical and horizontal blocks among blacks, greys and ochres. Scratches reveal pale layers beneath the paint and create small vibrations of light. In the upper left, the blue stroke concentrates the colour contrast within the irregular grid.
