Original painting by Nepalese artist Radip Tandukar, executed in acrylic on board. The work presents an extensive panoramic composition that brings together religious architecture, high mountain landscapes, traditional settlements, scenes of daily life, and a rich representation of the fauna of the Himalayas and the lowlands of Nepal.

Of extraordinary detail and vivid color, the painting organizes countless scenes within a single surface, building a visual journey through the region's cultural and natural heritage.

From Tibet to the Kathmandu Valley

In the upper part, monumental complexes inspired by Tibetan architecture appear, including a structure reminiscent of the Potala Palace in Lhasa. The buildings, with white walls and ornate roofs, are set against reddish mountains and a sky of soft, warm tones.

Below, an imposing mountain range of snow-capped peaks gives way to landscapes of green hills, forests, and waterways. Small figures traverse the paths, while others navigate the rivers or engage in various daily activities.

The central area presents an extensive succession of dwellings, pagodas, and Buddhist stupas, inspired by the traditional architecture of the Kathmandu Valley. A large stupa adorned with multicolored prayer flags stands out, surrounded by buildings and popular scenes.

In the lower third, the settlements and monuments give way to lush nature, inhabited by tigers, deer, monkeys, elephants, and other animals. This latter realm evokes the natural wealth of the Nepalese subtropical regions.

A painting of narrative tradition

The work combines elements of Nepalese folk painting with a detailed depiction of landscapes, architecture, and human figures.

Its spatial organization does not respond to conventional geographic perspective. The different places appear superimposed in successive bands, allowing for the gathering of monuments, regions, and activities that in reality are separated by great distances.

Dark outlines, the precision of small ornamental motifs, and the application of intense colors create a composition of great visual richness. Each section functions as a small autonomous scene, integrated within a carefully organized whole.
