Bands and depth
Foreground washes form layers of differing intensity, separated by pale lines. On the right, a concentration of brown marks suggests trees or rising ground, while the broad sky remains lighter.
Watercolour transitions
Blurred edges and variations in pigment density connect one area to another. Unpainted reserves illuminate the foreground and contrast with the darker sepia marks in the lower section.
